Mt. Elbert looms high above nearby Leadville, CO at 14,433'. Known for being the highest peak in Colorado, second highest peak in the contiguous US, and one hell of a climb, Elbert is a must-summit for anyone interested in hiking in this beautiful state. Though it isn't a technical climb, many people find the 4,100' of elevation gain in just 4.25 miles more than enough of a challenge.
